J.N.J is a trio of experienced, on time and professional instrumentalists that perform jazz and the jazz idiom, who help make your event a treasured affair.  We specialize in corporate & private events, cocktail sets and happy hours providing the perfect volume of live background music, that adds just the right touch of class, elegance and sophistication to any gathering.

Jeff Neal’s musical training began with The DC Youth Orchestra Program.  Later on, his education encluded; The Percussive Arts Society (PAS), International Association for Jazz Education (IAJE) and the KoSA Percussion Workshop.  He has also taken master classes or private lessons with Ndugu Chancler, Jim Chapin, Gordon Gottlieb, Joe Morello, Ed Shaughnesy, Steve Smith, Ed Thigpen and Ralph Peterson, Jr., to name a few.

His theatrical credits include; ‘Five Guys Named Moe’_(productions at Ford’s Theatre, Washington, DC and The Wilbur Theatre, Boston, MA) and local productions of ‘Anything Goes’, ‘Just So’ and ‘Footlose’.  Jeff also performed on Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Norwegian’s Sun and The Queen Elizabeth II cruise ships as a member of their elite “Show Bands”.  He was interviewed on WPFW’s radio show “Robyn’s Place” for their; “Salute to the Drummer” broadcast.

Jeff Neal’s own drumming style has been influenced by Steve Gadd, William Kennedy, Jimmy Cobb and Art Blakey to name a few.  Jeff has been recorded on many local artist CD projects and has served the past 5 years, as the rhythm section's house drummer for the “Midnight Jam Sessions” during the annual MidAtlantic Jazz Festival.  Jeff is currently a member of Advance Church and serves with the Music Ministry Team.
